Website Traffic 05- Site Traffic- how to attract visitors to your site- Page 1 of 2

Web site traffic is the major key point to be achieved for making your business' online success. Web site traffic actually refers to the number of times your site is viewed by the users. Technically speaking, it is the count of visitors to your web site.

Steps to be implemented to increase the site traffic:

Step 1:

Submit Your Site to Search Engines:

This is one of the major steps involved in increasing your web site traffic. Your site must be available on the popular search engines on the Internet. ( step 04 of this guide).

Optimize your site (SEO), Get your site listed in directories, Get listed in search engines.

Step 2:

Update Information Periodically:

ou must put fresh content as well as update the existing content of your web site. For example, if your site is something meant for selling electronic goods, then you must make available the latest information of the various electronic items and the industry reviews on your site.

Update your pages frequently. InfoSeek and some other major search engines will schedule re-crawls on pages based on how often the pages change. This is also likely to result in a higher rank in search results. At least change the page enough so that your file date is new.

Step 3:

Pay for clicks to your site:

If you are in a hurry to get your site noticed, or if you have money to spend on advertising, pay-per-click search engines offers a perfect solution.

People will see your site in the sponsored links section of the search results when they search for keyword phrases related to your products or services.

You pick the keywords suitable for your site, the ones you need to
attract the right type of visitors to your site. Then you set a rate that you are willing to pay for each click on the keywords that you have selected. The search results are ordered after the highest bid on the searched keyword and as an advertiser you only need to pay if the searcher clicks on your link. This way, you only pay for the visitors that you actually receive.

There are dozens of pay-per-click search engines on the Internet and some can bring you a lot of traffic and some will probably not be that good.

Major pay- per- click search engines:

Overture- Now (Yahoo! Search Marketing): (Recommended)

Overture lists your Web site across the Internet's top engines, including MSN, Yahoo!, CNN.com, ESPN.com, AltaVista, cNet, WSJ.com, Infospace and more. With premium listings you can reach 80% of Internet users.

Advertisers pay Overture the amount of their bid only when a consumer clicks on their listing, providing them with one of the most cost effective ways to drive targeted customer leads to their sites. Minimum bid is .10 per keyword...

AdWords- from google:

Advertise on the most popular search engine. With Google AdWords, your price is automatically lowered to one cent more than your closest competitor. No one can lock in the top position because user click through rates and CPC determine where your ad is shown. Ads appear on Google.com, AOL Search, AskJeeves, Earthlink and Lycos.

The most relevant ads rise to the top. Google offers a unique set of tools to forecast your budget and select target keywords. You can target your ads to users in a specific country or only to speakers of a specific language. More Details about AdWords
